Here Are Some Pictures Of Erie Steam Engines. Some Of The Pictures Have The Proper Credits While Others I am Not Sure Where They Came From. If Any One Knows Please Pass It Along To Me So I Can Give Proper Credit.

The 2700's Were Erie's K4 Class Steam Locomotives Coming From Two Builders, Schenectady And Baldwin And Were Purchased At The Same Time As The K-2's.With Their 69 Inch Drivers They Could Work Both Passenger and Freight Duties.Tenders Were Equipped To Hold 8000 Gallons Of Water And 14 Tons Of Coal. Ironically It Was A K-4, #2739 That Was The Last Erie Steam Engine Sold For Scrap.

In 1919 The Erie Purchased 20 USRA Heavy Pacifics From Alco And Baldwin. The Heavy 4-6-2's were Built With A 10,000 Gallon/16 Ton Tender, 79 Inch Drivers And Had A Tractive Effort Of 43,900 LBS. These Locos Could Very Often Be Seen On The Point Of The Erie Limited And Lasted Into The Late 1940"s When They Were Displaced By The FT Diesels.

Erie RailRoad's Heavy K-5's # 2924 And # 2939

The Erie's 2-8-4 Berkshire's Were No Doubt The Pride Of The Railroad's Fleet. Built From 1927-1929, These S class Locomotives Were Built With 16,500 Gallon Tanks And 24-Ton Tenders. Later In the Orders For The S-3's And S-4 Classes, The Tanks Were 20,750 Gallons And The Tenders Were Delivered With 27 Ton Capacity. Below, Erie Berkshire # 3364 Is Pulling For All Its Worth.
